So Lewis and Ruby are off to go and start a new chapter in their life in california. i'm going to miss them so much. this is a shout out to lewis and ruby. now this is just another excuse to go to california. love you guys. 
This last sunday afternoon my friend Chris Cleaver got married to his fiance Sarah Chambers. They got married at a park near wilsonville. It was great weather for a marriage and a nice ceremony. it was good to catch up with everyone from corvallis too.

So my friend Ramy who is getting married this next weekend had another bachelorette party this last weekend. We went to Darcelle's which is a drag queen show. it was a lot of fun and she certainly enjoyed herself. Here are some pictures.

Darcelle during the showSo i did it! I finished my first shift as a real nurse. It was great. I am working with a preceptor, who is pretty much another nurse who shows me the ropes and answers any questions i may have. anyways, she thought it would be important that i take our entire patient load, which is four patients, since i only have eight shifts before i am on my own. it went well, i had four stable patients who were supposed to be going home the next day. one thing i will have to get used to besides trying to stay awake in the middle of the night, is the fact that i have to wake my patients up every four hours to check their blood pressure, pulse, respirations, all that good stuff. sometimes i feel like the meanest person ever. oh well. so i made it through the first 12 hours.
then i was sitting in the change of shift meeting and the charge nurse asked anyone if they were willing to stay over because two people called in sick and another nurse was running two hours late. no one could, so i said i would if they would let me, since technically i cannot work on my own. well low and behold the day charge nurse was like alright, so i ended up staying over for three more hours making some overtime in my first shift. the morning time was definitely crazy. i was assigned three patients, and then was switched over to four different patients for some reason. let me tell you that last three hours was the most chaotic experience i have had, but luckily i made it through. i was pretty exhausted when i got home and slept real hard.
overall, it was great as my first day as a real nurse. it is definitely surreal, i still feel like a student. but i guess eventually i will get past that.
So tonight at 1900 or 7pm for those not on military time i start my first shift on my unit as a nurse. crazy....this last week and a half has been classroom stuff reviewing policies and good stuff like that, but tonight is the real deal. i can't believe its here. i'll let you know how it goes. also, i will be working nights, so we will see how that goes as well. i better get some quick shut eye. i'm sure it will be fine, hey i even bought a new pair of scrubs today, yay. alright, well see you on the other side.
so today is my birthday. i am finally 23. can you believe it? i feel like i am finally an adult. anyways, i had a good time this last weekend. i celebrated my bday on friday the 13th with some friends. dinner at oba, and then karoke at the boiler room. good times as always. my friends megan, ramy, janna, and jen took me to dinner and we had dessert at papa haydn. so freaking good. it was definately the best birthday ever. i guess i will just have to celebrate when i'm down in corvallis too, which is sometime soon. anyways, its my birfday and i will cry if i want to.
I am sitting in my living room right now listening to the huge rain drops, smelling the rain, as well as listening to the sounds of thunder in the distance. i love warm summer night rainstorms.
My best friend from school Ramy is getting married on the 27th and 28th, Cambodian style. For some reason her cambodian style wedding is not an official marriage ceremony, so ramy and her fiance Ryan got married at the courthouse last week. They asked me and my other best friend willesha to be their witnesses. it was a special day and i was so honored to get to be a part of their special day. That's right everyone, i am now a part of the working class. i had my first day today at OHSU. today was orientation and it involved many different really important people giving lectures, as well as a lot of chaos as to everything that needs to happen for orientation. i guess i can't really complain too much because i am getting paid to sit around. anyways, its exciting, i can't wait until i actually start working with patients, instead of reading lots of information. then i can truly utilize my nursing skills.
time to go and read about benefits, and figure that ish out.

Last Sunday i went to a wedding of my friend Marin at the Edgefield hotel in troutdale, or. i worked with her at the downtown corvallis starbucks. it was a nice little reunion with some of my previous coworkers. marin and her husband, nate, met because he was one of our cute regular customers. she finally got the guts to talk to him and the rest is history. so i guess it pays to hit on customers because you never know if they may be the one. it was a good time, here are some pictures.

So for the fourth of July Megan i soaked up the rays in the afternoon and then headed down to the waterfront to the Blues Festival to listen to some good music and eat good food, including ice cream, my favorite :) (the whole time i was hoping my trainer didn't walk by as i was stuffing my face with ice cream). then we watched the fireworks. my friend holly was with us and we had fun creating names for the various types of fireworks. i have included a video of the fireworks because we all know in the blogging world that pictures are awesome, but videos are even better.

I worked with this fine young lady brittany at starbucks. one of the funnies people i know. here are pictures from her birthday party.
The past couple of weeks have been busy, stressful, fun, crazy, etc. I figured i would upload pictures recap of what has been going on. I have been to a 21st bday bash, starbucks barbecue, two weddings, moved out of my apartment, into a new house, took the biggest test of my life, cried for about an hour after that, and then celebrated my country's bday. lots of good pictures to follow.

So after waiting about a day and a half wondering what the fate of my life was going to be i finally found out this morning. I actually did pass my test and i am officially a registered nurse!!! I can't believe it. I really did not think this was going to happen. That one hour of crying after my test was over nothing. So yeah. This blog page can actually be a true reflection of my career path, Tiffany Reinke, RN :)
Now i am in the process of unpacking my room and getting my life in order before i start working on Monday. So pictures will be up soon. I promise.

Okay....so today has been quite a rough day....I had my nursing boards and to be completely honest i felt like shit after finishing the test (pardon my language, but it is the only appropriate word to describe how i was feeling). it was so hard and i felt like i did not know any of the answers. and the worse thing is the test just shuts off and i have no idea how i did. i have to wait two or three days hoping and praying that my name shows up on the list of registered nurses for oregon.
after calling my mom and crying on the phone with her for about forty five minutes i felt much better. i have come to the realization that no matter what happens, happens, and i will move forward. so sorry to those out there who did not receive calls from me once i was done because i just did not feel great. i feel much better now though. i hung out with my friends megan and ramy who always know how to cheer me up. also ramy took her test today and felt the same way. we cheered each other in hopefully be winners, but with the possibility of being a loser.
in a few days, it will either be great and wonderful or a new place to learn from and move forward/maybe a couple of more tears shed.

so 36 hours until the biggest test of my life. i'm kind of nervous but i definately feel more prepared for it then last week. sorry i have been so absent. once this is over, just wait because i am going to go crazy with the postings. just wait.
